VT Group Wins Two Army Aviation Materiel Readiness Awards from Army Aviation Association of America
09 March 2010
VT Group, an industry leader in the delivery of customer-critical services to government agencies, and its sub contractor, Dale Technical Services (DTS), Inc, a privately held, American Indian-Owned Small Business Association (SBA)-Certified 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB), chartered, based, and headquartered in Huntsville, Ala., have been awarded two prestigious awards by the Army Aviation Association of North America.
The pair have been presented with the national Army Aviation Materiel Readiness Award for contributions by an Industry Team and a second award for contributions by a Major Contractor, for exemplary contributions to U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), and for logistical support and operational readiness of Army Aviation respectively. The national awards are in addition to three top individual contributor awards given to VT Group employees during the ceremonies.
The awards for Major Contractor and Industry Team are two of the Army Aviation Association of North America’s four national Army Aviation Materiel Readiness Awards. The Army Aviation Association of America, also known as Quad A, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting the United States Army Aviation Soldier, with membership including active duty, reserve component, civilian, industry, retired, affiliated organizations, and friends of Army Aviation.
“Receiving these awards from a panel of our peers and customers says a lot about the enormous dedication our people bring to the job every day,” said Chris Taylor, president of VT Group’s technical services division. “VT Group has proudly provided service to the military for over a century, and the personal commitment to getting the job done in support of the War Fighter is in our DNA – from our front-line staff to senior management.”
VT Group’s Industry Team award was given in recognition of its contributions to the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC) – the Army’s premier provider of materiel readiness including technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment – Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA), and the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP). The AOAP is a Department of the Army (DA) program supporting a Department of Defense (DOD)-wide effort to detect impending equipment component failures and determine lubricant condition through laboratory evaluation of in-service oil samples. VT Group and Dale Technical Services developed a centralized management plan that was instrumental in the restructuring and standardization of the AOAP, shortening the turnaround on samples and providing the customer with real-time results. Additionally, VT Group’s expertise and extensive equipment maintenance and laboratory training created an environment for increased efficiency and decreased costs; the sum parts of which aided AOAP to work with aviation units in ensuring safe and mission capable aircraft at highest the percentage possible to support the War Fighter.
For the award given to a Major Contractor, VT Group was recognized for exceptional performance in support of the Materiel and Operational Readiness of Army Aviation, VT Group’s logistical support services under the Theater Aviation Maintenance Program (TAMP). Working with a small business partner, Millennium Systems Services, Inc. (MSSI), the VT Group TAMP Support Team provides asset visibility and tracking, property book management, Stay Behind Equipment (SBE) and Theater Provided Equipment (TPE) management and tracking, Aircraft-On-The-Ground (AOG) and high priority repair parts requisition and tracking, Supply Support Activity (SSA) coordination and expediting measures for repair parts, and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) repair parts management, acquisition, and movement coordination and tracking. The VT Group TAMP Support Team consists of a three support groups; a staff directly supporting the deployed Task Force Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot (TF AVCRAD) conducting the TAMP mission in-theater; a support staff coordinating TAMP current and future support actions within the AMCOM IMMC Readiness Directorate, and TAMP Forward Operating Base (FOB) Representatives operating directly with the Combat Aviation Brigades (CABs) and subordinate units at their FOBs and other locations throughout Iraq and Kuwait.
In addition to the company-wide awards, which were accepted by program managers George Chinea and Don Allen, Project Manager/Center Awards were received by Robert Stephens, for his outstanding support to the G-3 Current Operations Directorate and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Drawdown/Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) Plus-Up planning; Jim Bogema, for support of the Cargo Helicopter Program Office; and Chris Henderson, for support of the Utility Training and Simulation program.
