Availability-Based Contracting

The services we deliver are usually connected to providing and supporting facilities and equipment. We deliver these assets, guarantee their ongoing availability in line with the customers’ requirements and commit to do whatever is necessary to ensure these requirements are met.

This means that the risks associated with owning and/or operating the asset are transferred from the customer to VT Group. It also gives us an incentive to minimize costs while maintaining sufficient resources to meet our customers’ requirements.

Examples

  • Delivering assets within strict parameters for cost and timescales, such as completing construction and infrastructure projects for NASA at its Wallops Island facility in Virginia
  • VT Group is responsible for delivering more than 750 hours of programs for the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) every day.  We use a network of our own transmission sites and those belonging to partner organizations to maintain 99.9 percent availability
  • In Lewisham, England, payment for our Building Schools for the Future contract is based on the delivery dates of new schools, the availability of classrooms and the reliability of the information and communications technologies (ICT)
