Fleet Management
VT Group provides total fleet maintenance for each of 3,600 vehicles owned and operated by London’s Metropolitan Police Service (LMPS). In an effort to deliver both the best service and the best contracting approach to the customer, VT Group has an innovative availability-based partnership with the LMPS. The customer sets a requirement for the quantity of vehicles, and vehicle hours required to complete its mission, and then rely on VT Group to manage the total number of vehicles along with the maintenance, repair and allocations to meet that requirement. This enables LMPS to get the assets they need to execute their mission, while providing maximum flexibility to VT Group to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
The arrangement works because the people at VT Group keep their promises to deliver. The company has invested in two purpose-built $16.4 million facilities to maintain the fleet that travels over 63 million miles a year, providing a guaranteed level of availability to the customer.
As a validation to this approach and service level, VT Group has been awarded the contract to manage the New Dimension fleet of more than 500 emergency vehicles and equipment modules. The New Dimension fleet are used for dealing with major emergencies in England such as floods, terrorist attacks and urban search and rescue.
