As part of the Ascent Consortium with Lockheed Martin, VT Group delivers the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). UKMFTS focuses on the future flying training needs of the UK armed forces, by providing a cost-effective, coherent, flexible and integrated training capability over a 25-year period. A leap-forward in contracting and government-contractor partnerships, the UKMFTS empowers the Ascent Consortium to flex and adapt to training requirements over the duration of the contract.

Through the UKMFTS VT will provide training for fast jet pilots and weapons systems operators, multi-engine pilots and helicopter pilots, all with a mix of actual flight time and revolutionary ground based simulation. The simulation provides the same level of instruction and experience as equivalent time in the air, and offers a cost-savings over the maintenance and replacement of aircrafts necessary to provide the same training entirely in the air.
